BEAUTY WORKSHOP 101

Aloha Lahdies ~

Well, today's post is a tiny tad different :)
How many of you attend a beauty workshop before?
now, before i proceed.. what is a beauty workshop / BWS ?

Well, based on my own definition and understanding..
A beauty workshop is where we work and do something (hence the name workshop) beauty related.

(Do correct me if i am wrong though :) in the comment box below)

so in my mind, a BWS is a beauty class where we learned and tested products and makeup onto ourself :) to make us understand better and look better.

I did attend a few of these but sadly to say there were a couple BWS that disappointed me and they are from a well known brand.

So here is a brief stories:
#1 Clarins Beauty Workshop
turned out it was a seminar for their new product launched, we didnt even attend any skincare or makeup practice to ourselves but just sat down and listen to the seminar although they did placed skincare, mirror and tissues on the table.

#2 SK-II Beauty Workshop
I found about this BWS from Fashionese Daily but unfortunately, when i arrived, there was no representative from the FD side which left me confused and had to figure out everything by myself. Another thing is, from FD it says from their link a 1.5 hour of beauty workshop but it turned out that we just did a skincare for a max of 25 minutes.

alright so that was the brief story.. and now.. i am going to write down some tips and guides for you who is going or planning to held a bws anytime in the future :)

Do keep in mind that:
I AM NO MAKEUP GURU OR HELD A BWS BEFORE BUT THESE TIPS & GUIDES ARE BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE AS A PARTICIPANT IN A FEW BWS THAT DISAPPOINTED ME.  I AM NO EXPERT IN THIS BUT AS A PARTICIPANT BEFORE, I DO HAVE A FEW SUGGESTIONS AND DO LEAVE YOUR IDEAS/TIPS/GUIDES ON HOW WOULD YOU RUN A BWS :)

IF THERE IS ANY WRONG WORDING, I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE, SINCE I AM HERE ONLY STATING MY OWN OPINION AND MEANT NO HARM.

okay, so instead of me writing post of each event report that disappointed me, i decided to create a post on how i think a bws can be good :)

#1. BE CLEAR, TRUE, DETAILED ON THE INFORMATION
I personally think before starting a bws, you should make an announcement, let them be poster or fb post or anything, to get everyone noticed and it is important to be detailed, true and clear!
For example, lets take my incident at Clarins, if it was only a seminar, then say it is a seminar for a new product launch instead of a bws.

#2. A RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE BWS DAY
A representative from a bws is important! why? because personally i feel when there is a representative (let it be the makeup artist him/herself or another person that works on the bws) it enhance the image of the bws, i personally think the bws is responsible and good :) Of course, it will help each participant to be clear if they have any qs.
For example, my SK-II experience, since i found out about this "bws" from FD, when i arrived i expect one FD Representative will be there but noone was there from FD so i ended up asking the beautician there which they are not that helpful either.

#3. A DETAILED & THOROUGHLY BWS SESSION
Some bws is free and some are not, even when a bws is free, as a participant, i expect to learn ALOT! and there are some bws that doesnt go in depth in information. Unless on your announcement you mention a certain type of bws ( skincare/makeup only), then be detailed on the information from skincare to makeup :D and try to answer a lot of questions as possible ! with a detailed and good answer of course hehe
Another thing is to be prepared for the products and tools, provide, at least, on every table one set of brushes, skincare and makeup :) so that people wont have to wait for the others.
For example, my experience at a one day makeup class from Martha Tilaar, they show slides and each slide covered every single detailed of skincare and makeup :) Another example is the Body Shop bws and from my report, you know that they are very unprepared for the tools and skincare and makeup :)

#4. CONSIDER EVERYONE'S SKIN TYPE
Well i dont know why most bws wont consider everyone skin types, is it expensive to provide different products for different skin types? i dont think so since i know they use their samples for display. I have an oily skin and rather sensitive so i have to use skin care that suits for my skin but most of the time, bws dont provide that and i had to use their product that is against the condition of my skin and the result? the burning and stinging feeling on my face.
For example, One Day Beauty Class from Martha Tilaar, they provided skincare for dry skin. Another example is SK-II "bws" that asked me my skin type and i love it!

#5.  A GOOD GOODIE BAGS
Trust me! everyone loves free stuff! haha right? :P one good goodie bag will make them happy even a bws isnt satisfying :) and when i say goodie bags, i mean NOT A FEW SAMPLES in a small pouch, i mean A BAG FULL OF PRODUCTS even they are just samples!
For Example, The Body Shop bws, yes i was disappointed at how they were unprepared for the tools and all but, a good goodie bag made everything up :) I think i got: 2 bread & a juice, samples, a bag *literally* fill with 2 small jar of moisturizers+soap+powdery soap :D

so i hope these will help you and if you are planning on a bws, do let me know because i love attending them :D

on a smaller not, this is for the participants, PLEASE COME ON TIME FOR EVERY BWS, you don't know how your lateness caused a lot of time wasted for others who are responsible and arrive early. Late-ness can be avoid, leave your home few hours early if you know it is going to be traffic or your know your house is far from the the venue of the bws :)

Thank You
love you lots
