Have you ever tried an eyeshadow with a foil texture? a thin soft paper-y texture of an eye shadow with a different way of applying to the eyes? Say hello to STILA MAGNIFICENT METAL FOIL FINISH EYE SHADOW IN COMMEX GOLD!
I saw this product when i was at Sephora Plaza Indonesia, fell in love at first sight, didnt buy it, kept thinking about it all night and long story short, i gave in and purchase this. It is a product that you know you must have and owned! Anyway, it took me ages just to pick one color and in the end, i ended buy the shade Commex Gold. You can never go wrong with gold.
The price is IDR 421.000
(if i am not mistake, let me know if the price is wrong)
Alright what intrigued me with this product is the texture and the direction to use it. Before that, let's see the packaging. The whole package comes with the eyeshadow, tray and a primer. These three comes in a box. To be truthful, i knew that this product would be more hassle than any other products but i was still curious to find out how great this product is. The product itself comes in a silver-ish twisted jar with a transparent lid where you can see the color. The primer that comes with it is pretty small and i thought there were two in a box but nope, there was only one. For the primer, a tiny pipette comes with it too and one thing i am afraid of is the liquid primer will evaporate.
Now, let's talk about the texture. As you can see from the picture above, the texture of this eye shadow is different. I have seen powder, gel, cream, pigments texture of an eyeshadow but never a "foil" one.
I would describe the texture of this specific product to be thin, soft, paper-y in torn tiny pieces. I believe i could call this texture flaky. However, they are easy to mold and form. When you touch it, without the primer, you can tell that it has a thick consistency.
Now, another unique part is on how to use this product. First, take the tray, drop a droplet of primer and i realized one droplet is way too much! If you can, take the tip of the pipette with your finger so you dont waste a lot of primer. I believe 1 drop of primer can go for 2 sets of eyes.
So, 1 drop of primer onto the tray, use your ring finger, dab onto the primer, make sure dont take it too much, swipe it onto the eyeshadow and apply it onto your eyes. Some people use brush but i personally feel it is much easier with your finger. You can take a good control with it.
It is very easy to blend and spread. Once it is dry and if it is uneven, use your finger to spread it evenly ;) i thought it would fall out but it didnt happen. It took a few moments to make sure the eyeshadows settled in nicely. So, it does take a little bit of patience to apply this and to wait for it to dry but once it is dry, you will have the best pigmented color on your eyes. The vibrancy of the color is high and it is so strong and visible on the eyes.
Here are the swatches with primer and without ;) enjoy x!
Here it is on my eyes. Such strong and visible color pigmentation and pay off on the eyes, isnt it?
Alright, so my conclusion is I have to admit that the process of applying this product is a hassle for a person who loves practical and easy stuff like me. It took a lot of patience within me to apply this evenly because of the unique texture and also I had to wait for a few moments for this product to dry.
Once it is dry, I was so happy with the result! I love the color pigmentation that is so bright and sparkling. I love the color pay off on its vibrancy where it actually shows so bright on my eyes. Personally I would use this product to top off the whole eye makeup to add that "umph" on the eye looks especially for brides.
