THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BROW PRODUCTS - WHAT TO BUY AND THE DIFFERENCES

Brows, what can we do without them? Eyebrows are the frame of the face, therefore it is important to maintain them by keeping them neat. There are a lot of brow products from pencil, powder, mascara to waxes or pomade. Which one is the best brow product for you? 

In this very post, i am going to share with you the basic types of brow product that you can find in most of the market here. There are not right or wrong products and to use them you can combine more than 2 types and colors. BUT! to get a very neat and nicely shaped eyebrows, YOU MUST TRIM/WAX/THREAD/SHAVE those bushy eyebrows! Unless you want to do the glue technique which i think is a lot of trouble and kinda messy. 

Oh yes! I received a lot of question regarding eyebrow especially: Ka, bagaimana bikin alis yang rapih dan bagus tanpa di cukur? ( How do you make a neat and clean eyebrow shape without shaving) and my answer will be: alis yang di cukur itu akan terlihat jauh lebih rapih di banding yang tidak, ( Eyebrows that are shaved or trimmed will look neater and cleaner compare to the ones without)

Why do I recommend to take care of your eyebrows? because it will make the eyebrow shaping and filling much easier. So here i will be sharing my tips and recommendation to which brow product the best for you!

For me, there are 4 basic eyebrow products: PENCIL, MASCARA, POWDER & POMADE (WAX)

Eyebrow Pencil - Benefit Instant Brow Pencil

This eyebrow pencil has the best long lasting quality, texture that is very velvety that ease the blending and a very natural brown shade for the brows. Usually I recommend pencil for the beginner in makeup because holding a pencil gives you the control on how to shape your eyebrows. Using a pencil can help you to shape your eyebrow easier.  Eyebrow pencil will give a natural daily look too! So if you want a more natural makeup look, go for eyebrow pencil. How to use an eyebrow pencil? apply the pencil and fill or draw the eyebrow as you wish, then use a spoolie to brush and blend everything. 

Pencil works best if you have a thick eyebrow where you can just brush through and fill them in or if you have a thin eyebrow and you are good in drawing them, this will ease the shaping and filling. 

Eyebrow mascara - Maybelline Fashion Brow Coloring Mascara

Now, browcara (brow mascara) usually used to top the whole eyebrow look but you can use this to intensify your eyebrow color *yes if you have a light brow colors, use this* and this is used to set the brow hair in placed. I recommend Maybelline browcara because the price is amazing and the quality is amazing with its high pigmentation that evenly spread and coated the eyebrow hair. This is in a way is to tint your brow hair.

I recommend this product if you have a good shaped of brows but they are light in colors or if you want to keep your hair in place. For thick eyebrow, i dont think you will see any difference except for the change of color.

Eyebrow powder - Wet n' Wild Brow Kit.

Now, to use this, you need to apply the wax first and this is done to make the powder stay long and to intensify the color but for this review, i skipped that part. One of my favorite brow powder is from Wet n' Wild, they are affordable and comes in two shade in a kit. The powder has a high color pigmentation therefore you can use it on its own without the wax. The texture is soft and buttery make it easy to blend and spread. 

Brow powder is best if you have sparse eyebrows *like mine* to shape and to fill them in. Brow powders offer a natural soft look to the complexion. I think this and brow pencil has a similar outcome but pencil is more efficient though. If you have thick eyebrows, you can use this but i dont think this will make the thick brow shaped nicely as this is a powder where it has a tendency of a feather line.

Eyebrow pomade - Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

Now how has one not heard of this one? A thick consistency with a high color pigmentation makes the brows look sharp and fierce. The texture is also amazingly smooth and it doesnt leave patches and of course it last very long!

Pomade or waxes are used for a more precise eyebrow and a sharp looking one! It will give the complexion of our appearance to look fierce, strong and very sculpted. This type of product works well for a thin eyebrow where you can draw and fill it in. For a thick set of brows, i suggest to skip this product because it will make your brows look more thicker than it already is.

In conclusion:

To get a natural brow look- go for pencil or powder

To get a tinted color brow - go for brow mascara

To get a strong sculpted look - go for the brow pomade

If you have thick bushy eyebrow - go for pencil or mascara! second choice: powder

If you have a thin sparse light eyebrow- go for pencil or powder to shape and fill or pomade is you love a strong look

If you have light yet gorgeous shape of brows- go for mascara to add some color!
